Episode 27 of the Saving the World webinar series features Giorgia Dalla Libera Marchiori, Hothouse PhD Candidate.

In 2026, our Saving the World webinar series will feature Hothouse PhD Candidates, Research Fellows, and Future Leaders Program alumni. We begin with Giorgia (Gio) Dalla Libera Marchiori.

Gio’s research explores the intersection between knowledge generation and private philanthropy. Private philanthropic organisations have gained significant influence in global governance in recent decades, but their role in the generation of knowledge has largely escape scrutiny. Therefore, Gio’s research investigates what type of research private philanthropic organisations support and why. Her work aims to outline the implications of knowledge prioritisation for the maintenance of business as usual versus the opportunities for system change and the achievement of planetary health equity.

The ‘Saving the World’ webinar series, presented by the Planetary Health Equity Hothouse, releases a new episode each month, discussing the intersections between climate change, inequity and human health. The webinars focus on actions that enable transformative change away from the harmful consumptogenic system to systems that promote good health, social equity and environmental wellbeing.
