Dr Azad Bali from ANU Crawford School and Dr Stuti Bhatnagar from Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs organised a closed-door online workshop - Social Media and Political Campaigns in South Asia on 12 September.

The workshop brought together eight scholars from South Asia to examine how different political parties  and elites use social media to advance their interests. These papers aim to develop new theoretical frameworks to understand different types of strategies that political parties use, and their impact of contemporary political dynamics. Authors presented preliminary versions of the paper which were discussed, and are now revising these for publications.

The organisers thank SARI for funding this workshop, which they hope will spark a range of research collaborations and projects.
